Tropical Wilds Review: A Mystery Box of Four Wild Features

Tropical Wilds is a 5×3, 25-line slot from Rabcat, distributed through Games Global, released in February 2021. Its idea is a Mystery Box that opens one of several Wild features — Wilds that boost multipliers, copy themselves, draw paths or move across the reels. RTP is 96.47%, volatility is medium, about 28% of spins win and the top win is 3,000× the bet.

The Mystery Box and its Wilds

When the Mystery Box lands, it opens to reveal one Wild feature. The four that every source describes the same way:

Wild What it does
Boost Wild Adds a multiplier: x2, x3 or x4 for one, two or three Boost Wilds
Outburst Wild Adds a further Wild on the position that gives the biggest win
Pathfinder Wild Needs at least two; every position on the path between them turns Wild
Tornado Wild Moves across the reels with a respin each time, as long as one is on screen (base game only)

Each of them solves the same problem differently: how to turn one Wild into a line win on a 25-line grid. The Tornado Wild is a respin feature in the same family as the walking Wilds in Better Wilds — our respins guide compares them — and the Boost Wild is a classic multiplier Wild, explained in our multipliers guide.

Wild Free Spins

Three Scatters start Wild Free Spins, in which every spin brings a guaranteed Wild of the type picked for the round. How many spins you get is where sources split:

  • Rabcat’s own page speaks of six Wild Free Spins;
  • SlotCatalog and Gambling.com list 7, 10 or 15 for three, four or five Scatters;
  • Casinos.com and LCB give 8.

The studio’s figure is the most reliable, but the paytable at your casino shows the version you play. Our free spins guide explains why the number of spins says less about a round than what happens in it.

Some listings mention a jackpot “in some versions”. The sources contradict each other on it, so we do not count it as a feature of the game.

Who should play it, and who should skip it

Good fit if you:

  • want a medium-volatility game with a win on more than one spin in four;
  • like Wild features that vary from spin to spin;
  • value a high RTP (96.47%) over a big ceiling.

Probably not for you if you:

  • chase large wins — 3,000× is a modest cap;
  • want to buy the bonus — there is no buy;
  • need the free-spin count settled before you play.
