Slot reviews, game sheets and help screens use a small vocabulary that is rarely explained. This glossary defines the terms used across WagerWild.com in one or two sentences each, with an example from a game we have reviewed and a link to the guide that goes deeper.

A–C
Ante bet — a surcharge on every spin that raises the chance of triggering the bonus. BGaming calls its version Chance x2. Prices and the maths are in our bonus buy guide.
Bonus buy — a one-off payment, usually 70× to 500× the bet, that starts the bonus round straight away. Not offered in the UK.
Cascade (also tumble or avalanche) — winning symbols are removed and new ones drop in, so one paid spin can win several times. See our cascades guide.
Cluster pays — wins for groups of touching symbols instead of lines; Merge Up needs 4 or more. Lines, clusters and scatter pays are compared in our pay systems guide.
Collector — a symbol that gathers the values of other symbols into one prize, like the Magic Cauldron in Vikings Wild Feast.
D–H
Default RTP — the RTP of the version a studio lists first, usually its highest. All reviewed games are ranked by it on our highest RTP slots page.
Expanding Wild — a Wild that grows to cover its whole reel, as in Super Fruits Wild and Burning Wild. Types of Wild are compared in our Wild symbols guide.
Free spins — a bonus round of spins played without new bets, usually started by Scatters. The rules of the reviewed games are side by side in our free spins guide.
Gamble feature — an option to risk a win for a bigger one: a card-colour double-up, Hot Spins or a Bonus Gamble. See our gamble features guide.
Hit frequency — the share of spins that return any win, including wins smaller than the bet. Merge Up: 32.89%; Gator Hunters: 17.23%. Explained with volatility in our volatility guide.
Hold-and-win — a bonus in which special symbols lock in place and a few respins reset each time a new one lands. See our respins guide.
Hot Spins — Inspired’s feature that replays a win of 4× the stake or more on four reel sets. More on our Inspired page.
M–R
Max win — the most a single spin or bonus round can pay, as a multiple of the bet. Reaching it usually ends the round. See our max win guide.
Max win probability — how rarely the max win is reached; Nolimit City publishes it on each game page (1 in 16 million for Gator Hunters). See our Nolimit City page.
Multiplier — a value that multiplies a win; it can sit on a Wild, a cell, a reel or a running total. Types are compared in our multipliers guide.
Paylines — fixed paths across the reels on which matching symbols must land, usually from the leftmost reel. Line-bet values are explained in our paytable guide.
Provably fair — a game whose results can be checked with cryptography after the bet. BGaming offers it; see our BGaming page.
Respin — some reels spin again without a new bet, for example when a Wild lands in Miss Cherry Fruits.
Retrigger — extra free spins won during the round. Lobster House and The Dog House have none.
RTP (return to player) — the share of all money staked that a game pays back over millions of spins. 96% RTP means an average loss of €4 per €100 staked.
RTP version — one of several settings of the same game with different RTPs; the casino chooses which to run. How to check yours is in our RTP versions guide.
S–W
Scatter — a symbol that counts anywhere on the grid, usually to start free spins; in Burning Wild it pays cash instead. See our Scatter symbols guide.
Scatter pays — wins for a number of matching symbols anywhere on the grid; Gator Hunters needs 8 or more.
Spin budget — your budget divided by your stake, so you know how many spins you can afford before you start. See our budget guide.
Sticky Wild — a Wild that stays in place for the rest of a round. The formula behind The Dog House and Lobster House is explained on our Pragmatic Play page.
Volatility — how the return is spread: low volatility means frequent small wins, high or extreme volatility means rare large ones.
Ways — wins for matching symbols on adjacent reels in any row; a 6×5 grid like Vikings Wild Feast’s has 15,625 of them.
Wild — a symbol that substitutes for others to complete a win, often with an extra feature such as a multiplier.
