Something Fruity Review: Free Spins From Stars and Fruit, With Unlimited Retriggers

Something Fruity is a 9-line fruit slot from Inspired, released in late summer 2020. It looks like a classic fruit machine, but its free spins come from two directions: from star Scatters, and from three lemons, cherries, plums or oranges on a line, which award spins instead of cash. In free spins the Joker Wild expands over its whole reel, and the round can be retriggered without limit. RTP is 95.68%, the highest of Inspired’s games we review on the studio’s own figures.

Something Fruity at a glance

Parameter Value
Provider Inspired
Released August–September 2020
Grid 5 reels × 3 rows, 9 lines
RTP 95.68%
Volatility Medium (some sources say low)
Bet range 20p–£20 per spin
Max payout £250,000 cap, which equals 12,500× at the top bet
Extras Spin Chance

Grid, lines, RTP and bets come from Inspired’s own page. The max-win figure needs a word of caution: 12,500× is the £250,000 payout cap at a £20 bet, not something a single spin is shown to reach. A screen full of sevens on all 9 lines would pay 900×.

Paytable

Payouts for five on a line, as multiples of the total bet:

Symbol 5 on a line
Seven 100× (2.5× for 3, 10× for 4)
Strawberry 50×
Watermelon, grapes 10×
Orange, plum 7.5×
Cherry, lemon 5×

The paytable is in multiples of the total bet, so no line-bet conversion is needed — the difference is explained in our paytable guide.

Two ways into free spins

Trigger Free spins
3 / 4 / 5 star Scatters anywhere 5 / 10 / 25
3 lemons or 3 cherries on a line 1
3 plums or 3 oranges on a line 2

Three of these four fruits pay no cash at all — they pay in spins instead. During the round, Scatters and the fruits keep adding spins, and Inspired describes the free spins as unlimited. Inside the round, the fruits also pay a small cash amount along with the extra spin.

The Joker Wild

  • In the base game the Joker lands only on reels 2, 3 and 4, in stacks of up to three, and pays nothing itself.
  • In free spins it expands to cover its whole reel.

An expanding Wild on a 9-line game turns many partial lines into wins — the same idea as in Super Fruits Wild and Burning Wild, compared in our fruit slots overview.

Spin Chance: when your balance is below the bet but above zero, you can risk the rest on one more spin. More on features like this in our gamble features guide.
